DFW Executive Board

Lesley Slaughter, President

Head Shot LesleyLesley Slaughter is a Human Resources Specialist with the Office of Personnel Management(OPM).  Prior to OPM she worked for the Civilian Human Resource Agency (CHRA). She “accidentally” fell into government service while working on her master’s degree. At the time she thought it would be good experience while she went to school and that she would pursue a career in private industry when she graduated. Significant time has passed since she finished her masters and she is still a federal employee, and loving it. She is passionate about providing superior human resources support to her customers. She is now an avid advocate for public service and cannot imagine a career as anything but a public servant.

Ms. Kimberly Meadows entered the Department of Army (DA) Internship Program after graduating from the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She began her internship at the Corpus Christi Army Depot assigned to the Resource Management Office. Ms. Meadows initially came to the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District while performing a 120-day DA rotational assignment. The District offered her the opportunity to transfer her internship, in addition to a permanent position upon graduation. She was assigned the task of gathering supporting documentation for civil assets from the years of 1995-2004. Upon completing the collection and review for over 5,000 assets, Ms. Meadows was then selected as the District Emerging Leader for the Regional Leadership Development Program. She is currently serving as the Management Analysis Branch Chief within the Resource Management Office.

Shawna Villarreal, Director of Social and Community Events

Shawna Villarreal is a Contract Specialist with the General Services Administration (GSA). She was referred to government service after moving back to Texas from San Diego where her husband was stationed in the military. She was told that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had a great Acquisition intern program so she thought she would give it a try. After two years of service there, it was time for a change and she joined the General Services Administration Public Buildings Service. Government acquisition is challenging and is the perfect career field for her.
