YGL Mentoring Program One-Pager

Thank you for your interest in the YGL Mentoring Program! We appreciate your assistance in recruiting participants for our program this year. We have included some bullet points before for your reference and to share with interested applicants.

Program Overview

The YGL Mentoring Program offers the opportunity for individuals new to government or early in their government careers to form quality connections with senior management employees. These connections are imperative to developing the next generation of government leaders.

It grew from a desire to address generational inconsistencies in the workplace, as well as a lack of resources for high quality, low cost, structured mentoring programs. The YGL Mentoring Program allows for a partnership between new and experienced workers to develop organically. Participants benefit from the experience their mentors bring in all aspects of life; while mentors are able to learn what the younger generation is looking for in an office culture and in a supervisor.

The program will be completely virtual in 2022. It will be composed of one-on-one meetings between participants and their mentors, as well as kickoff and closing events. The program will run approximately March to August 2022.

Applications

We are recruiting both mentors and mentees. In order to apply, please complete the corresponding application below:

Mentee Application
Mentor Application

The application will open Monday January 3rd and close Monday January 31st.  All applications will be reviewed and applicants will be notified of their status by Monday February 22nd.

Applications are open to all regardless of experience level. However, mentee spots will be prioritized for those more junior in their careers. If you have more experience (GS 13+), we encourage you to apply to be a mentor.

Eligibility

This program is open to all YGL members who wish to participate. To join YGL (for free), please visit our membership page here

Because the program is completely virtual in 2022, it is open to participants regardless of location.
