Providing the authentic voice for our generation of aspiring government leaders.
Who We Are
Young Government Leaders (YGL) was founded in 2003 by a group of young government employees seeking new connections across federal agencies. Since then, YGL has grown to provide the authentic voice for young government leaders across federal, state, and local government. We are the only 501(c)(3) non-profit, professional organization founded by – and led by – young federal government employees.

What Our Members Have to Say
Through YGL, I've learned more about the people who make up [different] agencies and how we can learn from each other as we navigate our careers. We truly have a cohort that supports and grows professional development in greater Denver area.
Patrick Waggoner
From Denver Chapter
I have been able to grow my network tremendously and connect with government employees in Atlanta on a federal, state, and local level. I'm a big advocate for YGL and I've grown my network nationally.
Ashley Nealy
From Atlanta Chapter
I joined YGL because I had just started my federal career and was looking for a way to network in my field. I joined the Professional Development Committee and have since met dozens of great contact. It has been an asset to my personal and professional life.
Nancy Brooks
From Kansas City Chapter
I was YGL's very first intern. I have met a lot of federal employees and attending YGL events.
